Oliver Rowland joins Nissan e.dams for the Formula E 2018/2019 season

Oliver Rowland has signed for Nissan e.dams where he will compete in the 2018/2019 Formula E championship.

Rowland will join Sebastien Buemi for season five of the all-electric racing series with the first race taking place on the 15 December in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Nissan e.dams' Formula E line-up was announced during an official team launch at Nissan Crossing in Tokyo early this morning on the eve of the 21st annual NISMO Festival at Japan’s Fuji International Speedway. The launch event also featured the debut of the all-new, racing-inspired Nissan LEAF NISMO RC.

Williams young driver Rowland, has previous FE experience from the season two race in Punta del Este, where he stood in for the injured Nick Heidfeld at the Mahindra team.

The 26-year-old Briton is already known to e.dams having raced for its DAMS team in Formula 2 in 2017 where he finished third.

Speaking at the launch in Tokyo, Rowland said:

“The Formula E championship features some of the best drivers in the world and it is an honour to be selected by Nissan e.dams to represent them in season five.
“This is a fantastic new era for the championship with Nissan making its debut, the new “Gen2 Formula E car on track for the first time and some incredible new venues.
"To be able to work alongside Sebastien is also an incredible opportunity. I’m looking forward to challenging myself against the best of the best in Formula E.”
